If you had a blast at this year’s NCGLFF, get ready to have even more fun next year when the festival expands to 10 days. Save the dates – August 10th to 19th – and get ready to see more films and attend more parties, community activities and special events than ever before!
Both CEO Bob Nocek and Jim Carl are looking forward to growing the festival. “For years, the festival has been straining against the schedule as we look for ways to incorporate special guests, sponsor events, and our new Plaza Party, which was a resounding success last year,” said Bob Nocek, President/CEO of the Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc., the non-profit which produces the festival. “The expanded schedule will give our fans more opportunities to see more films, and for NCGLFF to expand its presence as a signature event in Durham.”
“Although I believe the selection committee does a phenomenal job of programming films within our traditional four-day festival, we are still forced to cut many wonderful films which we would have otherwise loved to select,” senior director Jim Carl said. “Quite simply, we have too many great films and not enough timeslots to accommodate them. The expanded 10-day format allows us to program an even wider variety of critically-acclaimed and award-winning selections and elevate the NCGLFF into an even higher, more prominent arena.”
