William A. Seiter's Why Be Good?

A whoopee picture about the wild younger set.

Pert Kelly is the cat’s pajamas, a go-getting shopgirl by day, and heedless flapper by night. When this carefree Charleston champ snags a millionaire, will the temptation to misbehave overwhelm her? Colleen Moore taught 20s girls how to rebel against Victorian morals, how to laugh, flirt, bob their hair and shorten their skirts. "I was the spark that lit up Flaming Youth, Colleen Moore was the torch” said F. Scott Fitzgerald. Her beau is played by Neil Hamilton (35 years later, he was Commissioner Gordon in TV’s Batman) and just wait until he tries to slut shame her! The more things change…Considered lost until recently , this is a new restoration of a sparkling Jazz Age silent comedy, with a Vitaphone music score featuring hot jazz players like Jimmy Dorsey, Eddie Lang and Joe Venuti.
