SCROOGED & TO BE OR NOT TO BE
SCROOGED (PG-13, 1988, 100 min)
High-spirited high-jinks on Christmas Eve put Frank Cross (Bill Murray) in a ghostly time warp in this hilarious take-off of A Christmas Carol. Cross is mean, nasty, uncaring, unforgiving and has a sadistic sense of humor. Before the night is over he'll be visited by a maniacal New York cab driver from the past, a present-day fairy who's into pratfalls, and a ghoulish seven-foot messenger from the future.
TO BE OR NOT TO BE (PG, 1983, 107 min)
A bad Polish actor (Mel Brooks) and his wife (Anne Bancroft) are just trying to make a living when Germany invades the country during World War II. His wife starts up an extra-marital interest in a Polish pilot (Tim Matheson) that could lead to a large-scale disaster. When the officer unknowingly reveals the names of several resistance fighters to an SS spy, Mel must stop the list from landing in the hands of the SS chief (Charles Durning).
