Idyll (Idila)

Idyll (Idila)

After a night of carousing, a group of amateur photographers and models head for a fashion shoot in the remote Slovenian woods. On their way to the location, they come across some mysterious locals, but pay them no attention. On an idyllic meadow, they are violently attacked by its supposed owners. Thus an ordinary fashion shoot in nature turns into a fierce fight for survival. Idyll (Idila) plays with the genre pattern of a horrifying confrontation between rural and the urban. The film shatters all the conventions of its genre, combining “lost in the woods” and The Hills Have Eyes/The Texas Chainsaw Massacre approaches.  Underneath the basic story structure there are some subtly positioned problematic themes that modern-day Slovenia as well as general society faces nowadays. It is a dark reflection of the world we live in.
