RetroArtHouse Film Series

What is an Arthouse movie?

Art house is a film genre which encompasses movies where the content and style adhere with as little compromise as possible to the filmmakers' personal artistic vision. The narrative is often in the social realism style with a focus on the characters' contemplation of their existence or immediate concerns. An art house film is typically independently produced, and filmmakers commonly use a mix of lesser-known and amateur actors. This contrasts sharply with mainstream "blockbuster" films, which are geared more towards escapism and pure entertainment.

The RetroArthouse Film Series takes place Friday, June 22 through Sunday, June 24.
