Edward Bianchi’s THE FAN

Edward Bianchi’s THE FAN (R, 1981, 94 min)

This is the story of a great star...and a fan who went too far.  Hollywood legend Lauren Bacall stars (in her only big-budget slasher) as a Broadway actress who becomes the object of adoration to a disturbed young man named Douglas Breen (Michael Biehn in his film debut).  Breen's infatuation quickly turns into obsession, and when his letters receive no response, he snaps. His unrequited love fuels an intense hatred, setting him off on a killing spree. Featuring an all-star cast that includes James Garner, Maureen Stapleton, Hector Elizondo, and Dana Delaney.
