Experience an intimate evening with Art Garfunkel
A long four years after being diagnosed with vocal-cord paresis, legendary singer Art Garfunkel is ready to get back on the road. After a series of one-off shows last year, an announcement on his website noted that his “voice has recovered” and that “he plans to perform live shows throughout 2014.”
Born in New York City, Arthur Ira Garfunkel met his future singing partner, Paul Simon, in the sixth grade at PS 174. The two have performed together for over 40 years, the last time being in 2004 at the Colosseum in Rome, Italy (the show drew over 600,000 people). Garfunkel’s solo career is also nothing to sneeze at: he’s had a top 10 hit, six top 40 hits, two No. 1s in the United Kingdom, and 14 Adult Contemporary top 30 singles. Over the course of his duo and solo careers, Garfunkel has amassed six Grammys, a Golden Globe nomination, and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
