Bob Nocek, President/CEO

Bob Nocek became President and Chief Executive Officer of the Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc. on July 1, 2010 taking control of the non-profit organization that manages the historic city-owned Carolina Theatre complex.

A 10-year veteran of the entertainment industry with experience in booking, marketing, operations and ticketing, Nocek joined the CTD staff in 2009 as Vice President/COO.  Prior to joining the Carolina Theatre, Nocek was Assistant General Manager and Director of Sales & Marketing for the facility management company SMG at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.  He had previously held the positions of Director of Operations and Box Office Manager during more than five years with SMG.

Previously, Nocek served as Program Manager for the F.M. Kirby Center, an 1,800-seat historic performing arts center in Wilkes-Barre. His move to the performing arts came after a 12-year newspaper career covering sports, and later, entertainment.

Nocek is a native of Wilkes-Barre and a graduate of King's College. He and his partner, Matt Tomko, an artist, reside in north Durham.
