The 17th Annual Nevermore Film Festival returns to the Carolina of Durham Feb. 12-14.

The Nevermore Film Festival returns to the Carolina Theatre of Durham Friday, February 12 through Sunday, February 14 to deliver its 17th year of horror, science fiction, mystery, thriller, animation and action-adventure films. Since 1999, more than 500 features and shorts have screened at the festival.

Civil Rights Exhibit tours are scheduled for the Carolina Theatre this February.

Members of the Carolina Theatre’s Civil Rights Exhibit Committee will host free tours of the theatre’s “Confronting Change" exhibit in February in commemoration of Black History Month. The tours will allow visitors to view the museum-style exhibit, which is dedicated to community members who helped desegregate the Carolina Theatre through protests in the early 1960s.

We're hoping that all Triangle residents have fully recovered from Winter Storm Jonas. After nearly two days of snow, sleet and freezing rain — and three days of cleanup — it's about time for everything to get back to normal.

The Carolina Theatre of Durham was ranked on Pollstar's Top 200 Theatres for the fourth consecutive year.

Pollstar magazine ranked the Carolina Theatre of Durham among the Top 200 Theatres worldwide for the fourth consecutive year in its latest issue. The CTD was ranked No. 99 on the magazine's year-end list released last Friday, Jan. 8.

The submission period has ended.  Beginning January 11th, voting for finalists will begin here.  One lucky group of singers from the Lansing area will open VOCALOSITY when it comes to the Wharton Center.  The winner will be announced January 18th.

Carolina Theatre Names Ben Sollee Musician-In-Residence

The Carolina Theatre has named cellist Ben Sollee its first Musician-In-Residence.

The Carolina Theatre of Durham has named cellist Ben Sollee as its Musician-In-Residence for 2015-2016. This new, annual program promotes collaboration with the community of performing artists and organizations in Durham and the surrounding Triangle area. Future musicians will be selected through a yearly application process, the first of which will take place in the coming months.

Ah, the harbingers of spring in Durham. Daffodils and crocuses nose out of the lawn, only to be slammed by a week of wintry mix. In the bright evenings after the clocks are set forward, the bars fill up with jogging strollers and mellow dogs. And filmgoers gird themselves for the flickering rush of the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, which takes over downtown to screen around 100 films and host all manner of ancillary events from April 9-12.

With nearly a century–long history as Downtown Durham’s preeminent showplace for the performing arts, the Carolina Theatre is launching a new annual series unlike any the historic venue has ever programmed before: Series ’26. Referencing the year the theatre opened (1926), Series ’26 brings a parade of extraordinary artists to Durham for a host of ground-breaking shows scheduled for the venue’s 2015-16 season.
