Retro Film Series Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary

One of the largest repertory film programs in the country, the Carolina Theatre of Durham's Retro Film Series will celebrate its 20th anniversary. RETRO has become an oft-emulated model of film programming, presenting curated cinematic treats from familiar silver screen gems to rarely seen cult classics.

DURHAM, NC (November 16, 2018) — One of the largest repertory film programs in the country, the Carolina Theatre of Durham's Retro Film Series will mark its 20th anniversary tonight at 7 p.m. with a double-feature of two perfectly creepy, on-brand films: Friday The 13th: Part 2, the first movie the program screened in 1998, and The Shining.

The freshly re-branded weekly showcase, known to fans simply as RETRO, has become an oft-emulated model of film programming, presenting curated cinematic treats from familiar silver screen gems to rarely seen cult classics.

The 21st North Carolina Gay + Lesbian Film Festival returns to the Carolina Theatre on August 12.

Presenting the best of LGBT cinema for more than two decades, the North Carolina Gay + Lesbian Film Festival (NCGLFF) returns to the Carolina Theatre of Durham on August 12-20 with a record-setting 167 films, including 134 shorts and 33 features.
 
Ten-Passes, which cost $85 and enable guests to choose 10 film screenings at NCGLFF, and tickets to individual screenings, which cost $10,  are on sale now at the Carolina Theatre box office, ncglff.org and carolinatheatre.org.
