The Board of Trustees of the Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc. extended the contract of President/CEO Bob Nocek for five years effective July 1, 2014. The extension ensured that Nocek, who has successfully guided a major revitalization of the theatre since taking over the organization in 2010, will remain at the historic downtown venue through June 30, 2019.
The Carolina Theatre of Durham remained one of the top 100 theatre venues worldwide in 2014, as determined by Pollstar magazine.

Education Coordinator Betty Rhodes retired from the Carolina Theatre on May 24 after 18 years.
Betty Rhodes gave the Carolina Theatre 18 years of distinguished service, and she received a lifetime of memories in return.
"To be able to come to such a wonderful building every day for so many years has been an incredible experience," Rhodes said a day before she retired from the Theatre. "I fell in love with the place. It's magical."
