Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc. Announces Second Straight Financial Surplus

The Carolina Theatre of Durham Inc. recorded its second straight financial surplus in Fiscal Year 2013-14.

For the second consecutive year, Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc. recorded a financial surplus, according to audited financial statements presented to the Board of Trustees today. On the strength of record activity levels, the nonprofit recorded a surplus of $41,226 in Fiscal Year 2014, which ended June 30. See the Carolina Theatre's Annual Report.

Civil War Film Series Starts With ‘Josey Wales’

The Carolina Theatre of Durham will help its home city mark the susqucentennial of the Civil War with a film series.

Throughout 2015, many cities, towns and historic sites in the U.S. will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War. Durham played an incredibly important role in the conflict and its subsequent resolution: in April of 1865, the war’s largest troop surrender occurred at the farmhouse of James and Nancy Bennett near the present day location of the Bull City.

Book Harvest at Theatre Collects More Than 20,000 Books

Shelby Lynne Concert Postponed

Shelby Lynne's Feb. 13 concert at the Carolina Theatre of Durham has been postponed. A new date has not yet been announced.

Grammy-winning country vocalist Shelby Lynne was scheduled to perform at the Carolina Theatre on Feb. 13, but a scheduling conflict has forced the postponement of the show. A new date has not been set, but we do expect to announce it soon.
 
All tickets purchased for Lynne’s February 13 show in Durham will remain valid for the new date; no action is required by ticket buyers who still wish to attend the show.

Jammy, jazz-funk masters Medeski, Scofield, Martin & Wood bring their Juice tour to the Carolina Theatre of Durham on Monday, Dec. 8.

Musical collaborations aren’t always as great as the sum of their parts, but the greatness of Medeski, Scofield, Martin & Wood has never been questioned. Raleigh-Based Band The Hell No To Open Ace Frehley Show

The Raleigh-based rock band The Hell No will open for Ace Frehley at the Carolina Theatre of Durham.

The Spaceman is in Durham. Ace Frehley, the former lead guitarist and founding member of the legendary rock band KISS, will perform at the Carolina Theatre Monday night (Nov. 17) on his Space Invader Tour. Under his KISS persona of 'The Spaceman," Frehley partnered with Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss in the influential glam rock band that was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year.
