Carolina Theatre Reopens After Storm

The Carolina Theatre of Durham has reopened and is running on normal hours after Winter Storm Jonas.

We're hoping that all Triangle residents have fully recovered from Winter Storm Jonas. After nearly two days of snow, sleet and freezing rain — and three days of cleanup — it's about time for everything to get back to normal.

Count the Carolina Theatre of Durham as ahead of schedule, then.

The Carolina Theatre of Durham was ranked on Pollstar's Top 200 Theatres for the fourth consecutive year.

Pollstar magazine ranked the Carolina Theatre of Durham among the Top 200 Theatres worldwide for the fourth consecutive year in its latest issue. The CTD was ranked No. 99 on the magazine's year-end list released last Friday, Jan. 8.

harton Center are giving away the chance for one lucky A Cappella Group to perform as the Opening Act for VOCALOSITY when the show comes to East Lansing on January 26th 2016!  Plus, this is your chance to get in front of Deke Sharon, the man behind Pitch Perfect and The Sing-Off and the creator of VOCALOSITY.

The submission period has ended.  Beginning January 11th, voting for finalists will begin here.  One lucky group of singers from the Lansing area will open VOCALOSITY when it comes to the Wharton Center.  The winner will be announced January 18th.

Carolina Theatre Announces Incredible 90th Anniversary Events

The Carolina Theatre of Durham announced a full slate of events to help celebrate its 90th Anniversary.

The Carolina Theatre will celebrate its 90th year in the heart of Downtown Durham in 2016 with a year-long celebration filled with spectacular live events, interesting special programs and exciting new partnerships.

The last remaining of the original downtown theatres, the Carolina Theatre opened on Feb. 2, 1926 as the Durham Auditorium. Nine decades later, the city-owned historic concert and performing arts venue has become a community treasure and one of its most beloved institutions.

Carolina Theatre Names Ben Sollee Musician-In-Residence

The Carolina Theatre has named cellist Ben Sollee its first Musician-In-Residence.

The Carolina Theatre of Durham has named cellist Ben Sollee as its Musician-In-Residence for 2015-2016. This new, annual program promotes collaboration with the community of performing artists and organizations in Durham and the surrounding Triangle area. Future musicians will be selected through a yearly application process, the first of which will take place in the coming months.
