The Carolina Theatre is launching a new pilot program with Durham Public Schools that will provide students the opportunity to obtain free tickets to 22 Arts Discovery Educational Series events scheduled for the historic downtown venue in 2016-17.

DURHAM, July 26, 2016 — Continuing its decades-long tradition of presenting vital arts education experiences to the students of Durham, the Carolina Theatre is launching a new pilot program with Durham Public Schools that will provide students the opportunity to obtain free tickets to 22 Arts Discovery Educational Series events scheduled for the historic downtown venue in 2016-17.

Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc., the non-profit that operates the historic downtown Durham performing arts venue, and Nashville-based concert promotion company National Shows 2 (NS2) have entered into a booking partnership.

Carolina Theatre of Durham, Inc., the non-profit that operates the historic downtown Durham performing arts venue, and Nashville-based concert promotion company National Shows 2 (NS2) have entered into an agreement that opens the door for the two organizations to co-promote at least 60 national touring acts at the historic theatre each year.

Local Businesses Help Carolina Theatre Stage 90th Anniversary Party

The Carolina Theatre of Durham will host its 90th Anniversary party thanks to donations from local businesses.

The Carolina Theatre turned 90 years-old on Tuesday (February 2)!  Our majestic downtown Durham venue is celebrating its landmark anniversary with a year-long slate of special events, including a 90th Anniversary Party this Saturday, February 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The 17th Annual Nevermore Film Festival returns to the Carolina of Durham Feb. 12-14.

The Nevermore Film Festival returns to the Carolina Theatre of Durham Friday, February 12 through Sunday, February 14 to deliver its 17th year of horror, science fiction, mystery, thriller, animation and action-adventure films. Since 1999, more than 500 features and shorts have screened at the festival.

Civil Rights Exhibit tours are scheduled for the Carolina Theatre this February.

Members of the Carolina Theatre’s Civil Rights Exhibit Committee will host free tours of the theatre’s “Confronting Change" exhibit in February in commemoration of Black History Month. The tours will allow visitors to view the museum-style exhibit, which is dedicated to community members who helped desegregate the Carolina Theatre through protests in the early 1960s.
