Renovation Update - Week Two

It’s been fascinating to watch the crew install scaffolding in Fletcher Hall this week.  Our sloped floors and really tall ceilings are quite a challenge, and I’ve noticed that the scaffolding sways a bit as the workers continue to build it.  This is definitely not a job for acrophobes (like me)!

Electricians are running more conduit in the ceilings, and the concrete crew is beginning demo in the cinemas to increase the number of handicapped-accessible seats in both Cinema One and Two.  We’ll be adding dedicated companion seats there as well. We’re hoping that the plaster work will begin in the next few days.

Both the men’s and women’s restrooms in the Connie Moses Ballroom area will receive a total overhaul for ADA compliance. Jamin has begun the demo by removing a variety of items including sinks, faucets and towel holders as part of our reuse/recycle initiative. He’ll be storing these items for later use.  We are also either reusing or recycling all metal parts so that nothing ends up in the landfill. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
