Renovation Update - Week Four
I wish we had something new and shiny to show you, but we are still in the early stages of the renovation and most of what is happening right now is just plain old hard work. We’ve heard a lot of major noise from Cinema One today where work is underway to enlarge and extend the concrete seating pad so we can install new seating that is ADA compliant. We’ll also be installing some new fixed companion seating on the first row next to wider spaces that can accommodate various size wheelchairs and scooters. The last two rows of Cinema Two will also be upgraded with these new seats.
Plaster work is also continuing this week throughout the building. The crews seem to be everywhere at once restoring the plaster in Fletcher Hall and in Kirby Lobby. With all of the rain we’ve had the past few days, its taking the plaster longer to dry. Take a look at the picture of the large area beside the front door – it’s going to take awhile before that area will be dry enough to paint!
You can see in the third picture how much progress we’ve made on the new concession counter in the Connie Moses Ballroom (CMB). After the tear down, we discovered that the wall will have to be rebuilt to
There’s a lot of progress going on with repairs and upgrades of the two restrooms in CMB. In one of the pictures, you can see the hexagonal white tile that was underneath the pink tile. Jamin is not sure if this is the original tile, but it certainly looks to be from the 1920s.
Hope you’re enjoying the updates!
