Renovation Update - Week 16
Finally, renovations are winding down just in time for our reopening on Friday, September 30 with our first film of the fall, Main Street, filmed in 2010 in Durham. Our first Star Series show featuring Lindsey Buckingham will officially open our season on Saturday night, and I can’t tell you how good it feels to be back in show biz! The stage is almost clear, the lights are hung and the legacy box seats are being readied for Saturday night. You can see Meredith Vey our director of fundraising, Aaron Bare, marketing director and Bob Nocek, CEO checking the boxes to make sure everything is perfect.
There is still a lot of work going on in the cinema lobby with a major installation of scaffolding so we can get the ceiling painted. Both cinemas are undergoing repainting of ceilings and walls and will not be entirely finished for the weekend. We promise that they’ll be ready to go next weekend for the Escapism Film Festival!
The last photo is a glimpse at the first part of our Making History exhibit, and we have to say that we love the way it looks. The murals went up this morning amid waves of admiration by the entire staff. Well, that might be going a bit far, but we really do like it! The letters and sign are three-dimensional and look stunning in the lobby. Now we can’t wait to have the rest of the installation completed. That should happen by mid-November. We hope you’ll get a chance to take in a movie or a show soon and see the transformation for yourself. We are sure that you’ll love it as much as we do.
