Renovation Update - Week 14

It’s been a busy summer here at the theatre. We're all really ready to get back to the business of movies and shows! Today, I actually had to jump over the rolls of carpet in Fletcher Hall just to get to my office! Those giant rolls of carpet you saw last week are being installed this week.  So far, the upper balcony lobby and Connie Moses Ballroom are done, and the cinema lobby is looking good as well.  Now we just can’t wait to roll out the red carpet for you.

There is still a lot of work going on, particularly in the cinemas. If you were a patron here in the early 2000s, you probably remember that rain equaled leaks in both cinemas. I can recall running around placing buckets at various locations while our good-hearted film goers just patiently moved to a non-leaky portion of the cinema and continued to enjoy their movie. Those days are over. All of the plaster has been patched, and we’re just waiting for the painters to arrive to provide the finishing touches to this amazing renovation.

Speakers! Wow! If you’ve ever wondered what’s behind the cinema screens (no, it’s not the mighty and powerful OZ), take a look at the photos and you’ll see that the brand new speakers are all in place in Cinema Two. Cinema One is also getting the same upgrade. Your whole movie-going experience is going to change dramatically, and for the better.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you back for our opening film, Main Street, on Friday, September 29.  We’ll be announcing the film schedule soon.
