Renovation Update – Intermission
We’re about halfway through the renovations this week and are taking a break from the dust and the paint to present the 16th Annual Gay and Lesbian Film Festival which started today at 1 p.m. and runs through Sunday. There is still some scaffolding up in Fletcher Hall, but we’ve been able to open up the center section of seats on the floor and in the first balcony. The view of the screen is great, but if you look to the side you can see that there’s quite a bit of work to finish.
The Connie Moses Concession stand is now open with a beautiful new green marble counter that makes it much more accessible for everyone. The Ballroom Café is open for the festival with a luscious assortment of cookies and pastries from Ninth Street Bakery and an assortment of Boylan sodas in bottles. If you don’t get a chance to try the soda this week, don’t worry, we’ll be stocking it when we reopen in October in all of our concession stands.
The tent is in place on the plaza for the NCGLFF 2011 Plaza Party. We’ll be rockin’ the plaza on Saturday night from 8 pm ‘til midnight, and everyone is welcome under our tent. Grab a ticket for $15 and enjoy a night of food, drink, music and fun.
Can we just say it's great having people and movies in the building again? We love the smell of popcorn in the morning!
