Red Baraat To Get Funky in Durham
Brooklyn Bhangra band Red Baarat is a musical party of horns, percussion and North Indian rhythms guaranteed to get you out of your seat. They're coming to the Carolina Theatre for a Club Carolina date on Wednesday (May 7).
The tirelessly touring band plays more than 200 dates a year — a feat made even more impressive when you observe the energy they put into their exhilarating live performances. Watch them play at Washington D.C.'s 9:30 Club in the clip below:
Thanks to its funky, dance-able music steeped in Bhangra, go-go beats and hip-hop, Red Baraat has become an emerging talent. The band gave a TED Talk at the flagship TED Conference in 2012 in front of luminaries such as Al Gore, Matt Groening and David Byrne. They've also played the White House, Google’s Mountain View Campus and the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.
Later this year, Red Baarat is scheduled to play the Telluride Jazz Festival in Colorado and the Monterey Jazz Festival in California — impressive events for a band that's only been together since 2008.
