The Mountain Goats’ John Darnielle Joins NPR’s ‘Ask Me Another’ In Durham Nov. 19
John Darnielle made a name for himself as the founding – and sometimes sole member – of North Carolina’s own slice of music history: the Mountain Goats. He’s also an author and just released his second book, Wolf in White Van. But come November 19, this singer, songwriter and novelist will take the stage at the Carolina Theatre with an all-new role to play.
"Very Important Puzzler.”
As the V.I.P. guest contestant at next month’s taping of Ask Me Another, public radio’s rambunctious quiz program from NPR and WNYC, Darnielle will face a wit-testing, ego-warping quiz cooked up just for him by some of the baddest puzzle writers in the biz.
Darnielle won’t be the only Durham-area contestant at the show, either. Ask Me Another scouted out the region’s willing and able puzzlers to compete in a live round of trivia during the event. Host Ophira Eisenberg, along with the show’s Puzzle Gurus and house musician Jonathan Coulton, will test contestants’ mettle in a variety of games involving trivia, word puzzles, music and pop culture. If past shows are any indication, singing and dancing aren’t out of the question.
Tickets for the taping are available now at www.carolinatheatre.org, by phone and from theater box offices (detailed information available here). The event on November 19 will be recorded as an episode of Ask Me Another, which is available as a podcast and airs locally on WUNC 91.5 (Sunday at 1 p.m.) and on public radio stations around the country.
