Lucinda Williams to Perform Songs After Film:Acoustic on Jan. 26

When you’re as talented as Lucinda Williams, you can do anything you want on your birthday, especially if that involves playing music inside the Carolina Theater’s Fletcher Hall.

Next Monday (Jan. 26), the acclaimed singer-songwriter will be at the Carolina Theatre on her birthday as part of the Modern School of Film’s fascinating Film:Acoustic series. Williams and Modern School of Film founder, and Duke graduate, Robert Milazzo will screen Wise Blood — the 1979 film adapted from the Flannery O'Connor novel about a roaming preacher in the post-World War II South — with a live audience.

Earlier today, we received word that Ms. Williams intends to play a few songs inspired by the film after the screening. If you have ever seen Williams’ perform live, you know that even a few of her thoughtful songs can greatly impact an audience. If not, well, you’ll just need to trust us.

So, while we try to figure out what sort of birthday cake to get one of the coolest artists we’ve ever had the pleasure of hosting — you only need to buy a ticket to see the film.
