'Chef' Is A Must-See Film For Foodies
Spoiler alert: Chef is about food and those who love food… Sooo, does that mean everyone should be interested in this soon-to-debut film? It sure does.
You're in luck: Chef screens at the Carolina Theatre on Tuesday (May 6) before it opens at theaters nationwide on Friday. The screening is part of our ongoing New York Film Critics Series.
With a cast that includes Jon Favreau, Sofia Vergara, Scarlett Johansson, Dustin Hoffman and Robert Downey Jr., Chef has already generated a great deal of buzz. The film also won the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City late last month.
The movie stars Favreau as a chef who gets fired from a restaurant and must rebuild his career via a food truck.
Favreau consulted with real-life food truck pioneer Roy Choi in Queens, NY. Choi recently told the New York Daily News that the film captured what the culinary world can be like:
“It’s a film that tries to be as true to the chef world, the restaurant world, the farmers market world and food writer’s world as possible on screen in two hours. Culinary students who see this movie will see whether they really want to get into the food world or not.”
Chef also stars plenty of tasty food. You may want to make dining reservations downtown both before and after the screening.
